J&B Importers Reduces Its Carbon Footprint
APRIL 10, 2007 — MIAMI, FL (BRAIN)–J&B Importers has instituted a company-wide commuting plan that aims to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
The company will reimburse $2 per round trip to employees who participate in a carpool and $4 per round trip for employees who bicycle, walk or take mass transit for their commute.
“We’re trying to do our part to help the environment, reduce our nation’s dependence on imported fossil fuels and encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Benjamin Joannou, Jr., vice president of J&B.
J&B Importers employs 300 employees in 28 states. So far, about 93 employees have taken advantage of the program.
“It’s a great program,” said Joe Zauner, a graphic designer with J&B Importers. “I commute twice weekly by bicycle. The reimbursement encourages me to get out and ride more often. If I lived closer, I’d do it every day.”
