O.C. gas price hits record high

Aye…when will this end!?! I’m not going to lie and make it seem like I’m a Super Commuter, but I still drive my car to get around. However, when I saw this article by the OC Register about gas prices…makes me want to ride my bike even more! It’s just crazy how much gas prices have risen in the past few weeks.

Did you know that my little Hyundai costs me over $45 to fill up!

Average price for regular is $3.406, topping old mark by more than 3 cents.
The Orange County Register
Gasoline prices in Orange County reached a record high today, with the countywide average for a gallon of regular reaching $3.406, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California and Oil Price Information Service.

That tops the year-old previous record by more than three cents. The mark set on May 17, 2006, of $3.371 had stood until now.

Refinery outages in California have been blamed for the run-up in prices. Larry Roberts, supply manager for Tower Energy, an independent gasoline marketer in Torrance, said Monday that retail prices for regular gasoline could reach $3.50 soon, but shouldn’t go much higher than that.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicted last month in its “summer fuels outlook” that the national average price for gasoline would peak in May this year, compared to July last year.
