I just wanted to share with you pictures of my commute. I rode the DiamondBack Transporter to work today with the Maxxis Overdrive tires.

Foster Rd Bridge on the San Gabriel River Trail.

Foster Rd, parallels Imperial Hwy, a major thoroughfare.

Exit/Entry to The San Gabriel River Trail from Foster Rd.

Bike commuter riding against traffic…. BIG NO NO

Going underneath the 605 Freeway

What I thought was a fellow commuter, but just a pompous roadie that didn’t reciprocate my friendly wave.

If you read my DiamondBack Transporter Review, I didn’t really cared much for the all-terrain tires that came with it. I had the Maxxis Overdrive tires on my MUTT, but since I installed the SweetSkinz Hazarea on the B27, I swapped the Overdrive tires on the Transporter. What a huge difference!!! The bike no longer had that ‘heavy’ feeling and it was also much quieter. I will be posting a full review of the Maxxis Overdrive tires, so stay tuned!

I love the first picture! Looks like you had a great ride. Oh yah, Nice panniers. I just picked up the exact same set on Tuesday. I did about 40 miles on Monday with a heavy load bungeed insecurely to my rack. On shorter rides, I was using a sweaty backpack. I’d had enough of that. Now I don’t know how I got along without panniers
Nice to see someone besides me riding a Diamondback. I’ve got the Edgewood07 and I’ve been very happy with it’s performance and reliability.
Don’t know what it is, but roadies can be so snobby.
Brett, before I got my road bike, my commuter was a ‘98 Diamondback Outlook which I’d hybrid-ized with a better rear wheel, a different cassette with better gearing for the road, and slick tires. It’s still my backup commuter. I don’t know why DB gets such a hard time from so-called “serious” cyclists.
I think that DB was cursed by selling their bikes thru retail stores. It is a curse that Mongoose, Schwinn, K2 and Fezzari have to endure. They all sell quality bikes but their reputation with ’serious’ cyclists have been tarnished. I really like the Transporter, it has great components and great workmanship.
Moe that’s that white thing on your pannier? Looks like a picture of a robber.
I printed some ‘properganda’ from Cicle.org.
