I've seen people driving them Hybrids at 80 mph!!! Another issue that has been kept quiet, what's going to happen to the battery pack in about 5 years? Anyhow, the MPG calculator that RL is writing about can be an eye opener for people. Any combination of Drive/Train, Drive/Bus, Drive/Walk and of course, our favorite, Drive/Bike Ride will significantly decrease the amount of gas consumption. The ripple effect is real, the price of groceries is way up, even the price of beer!!! That's where I draw the line.

Another problem with hybrid vehicles and their stated MPG rates is that those vehicles must be carefully driven (gentle acceleration, coasting, etc.) to reach those fabled rates. The reality is that folks drive them just like regular cars, and their MPG is substantially less than the vehicles are capable of.

Besides, they still burn gasoline...better for everyone to get on a bike and ride!!
