Fixed gear bikes in the news

We know that fixed gear bikes are becoming really popular, in fact, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette wrote an article on them:

While such a machine might seem to have limited appeal, the popularity of fixed-gear bikes has expanded beyond the bigcity messenger subculture that spawned them somewhere during the past decade.

It seems that now days riding a Fixed gear bike is becoming more ‘mainstream’. Can this mean the beginning of the end of the ‘Fixie subculture’?

    I drove by Downtown Fullerton and one of the trendy shops had a fixie in the window as part of their decor…

    I tweaked my knee and haven’t ridden my fixed gear because it aggrevates it. Now it’s set up as a SS.
