I'm the only cyclist in my department and the only person not too have had time of sick in the last year.
Commuting everyday toughens you up.

I'm with Noah on that one. If I can't ride, I don't go to work. Part of that is because I don't OWN a car, but I could take the bus (though the route to go across town instead of north-south in Columbus is a bit cockeyed).

But I look at it this way: if I'm so sick that I can't ride a few miles to my job, then I probably don't need to be spreading whatever I have to my cow-orkers.

When I am sick I just ride slow and show up late. Enough is enough when you are sick for more than a week. Last winter I was sick for a month and I finally killed the ick with garlic.
Get better and
"Wrap a hot towel round your head" (Ferris' dad)

I wrote about the very same thing (to an extent) over on CBB a few days ago. It boils down to "Too sick to ride = too sick to work" and if you feel kind of crappy, it's far better to chillax than to be a hero (a.k.a. dumbass) and make your immune system work double time when it's already having problems.

Runny nose? I'll ride. Mild cough? I'll ride.

If I have a fever or If my throat starts tickling like I've got post-nasal drip or strep I call my boss and tell him I'm sick. Then I drink a bunch of water, eat a bunch of spicy food and go take a 12 hour coma.
