Bike to lunch day

So I was thinking on how to capitalize on the ‘New Year’s lose weight resolution craze’, and since most of my co-workers will not ride their bike to work, I’m thinking of starting a ‘Bike to Lunch Day’. Since Friday is casual day and California has very nice weather, I will target those who I think maybe willing to ride to a plaza that is a couple of miles away via the Los Angeles River Trail for lunch. I’m hoping that this will motivate people to use their bikes to exercise (small steps) and hopefully they’ll get the bug to try to ride their bike to work. I will let you know how it goes.

Moe, that is a great idea. Thinking out of the box. I hope you have success.

I agree…great idea. But how will you have a bike for them to ride to lunch? Will you throw some extras in a car, or will you use RL’s bike rack side car thingy he built a while back?

I usually ask the people that already own bikes or sometimes I drive and I can provide up to 3 bikes (whatever takes for people to ride a bike).

It’s a great idea — and a good reason to get out of the office for a nice break!

I think it’s a great way to tap into the Clif Bar 2MileChallenge! My parents don’t have much in the 2Miles around their house, but much more around their offices. I’m going to try to encourage them to use them from the office for errands they run locally. Folding bikes that can be stashed under the desk or behind a door are very good.

    Nice idea!
