Walzcaps Wool Ear-Flap cap: Overview

January 23rd, 2008 by Lance · 6 Comments

Just got my Walzcap   hat the other day.  These babies are individually sewn here in the US in the traditional cycling cap style. This company will personalize a cap for you or provide them for your cycling team. They range from $12.99 on up to $29 or more if you go the custom route.

Wallzcap Wool Ear-Flap

So far I’m loving the retro style of this little cap. Really classy and understated. I’ve had it on one commute, to and from work, and it did a great job of keeping my ears warm in the 45 degrees.

I’m too sexy for my hat…whacha think about that

I’ve been throwing this thing on, around the house, just to keep my ears toasty. I keep my head close to shaved year round so I’m a regular beanie wearer. The ear coverage has a nice little elastic band in the back to keep it snug and warm. Stitching looks pretty good all around too. I’m not old enough to have used a lot of wool gear but it’s definitely not as itchy as I thought it’d be. In fact it’s way more comfy than all my beanies.  Interested to see if this thing is comfortable on long rides and if the stitching holds up. Check back in to see how it does.

Walz caps are great. The best part(for me) is that Walz offers an XL size. I have a big head and Walz caps are the first ones that have actually FIT me.

Can you tuck the ear-flap up inside when not needed? I dig it but I just need to know.

Max, you can tuck it inside but it’s not made to do it. I tried it and it gets a little bunchy inside.

Hmmm… Well, I guess I’ll get one anyway, I just lost my best wool hat (Hannah Hats) and I am jones-ing for my natural fibers.

I have to revise my previous statement. After a little wear and use this thing loosens up, ever so slightly, and with the warmer weather I’ve been very happy with tucking the ear flap under the hat and wearing it as a regular cap. Still looks stylish and you can wear it in warm and cold weather. I’m loving it!
