I have a degree also. But there are times when I don't see the benefit of it. The Univ told me that I'll be making more money, promotions should come easy with a degree. Well all I have to show for it so far is a huge student loan debt that is greater than my annual income....

As a degreed accountant, I can't say that you don't need a degree. A degree reflects one of the major accomplishments of life. It reflects dedication and hard work. Going to school is not easy. Especially when our society tells us we must have everything now. We can loose sight of school if we desire to make good money now.

My two nickels.

I have a diploma and a few random yrs in college. Ghost is right, you don't Need a piece of paper, though I only have a diploma, I have established myself in social work, and been considered for many management positions (and gotten a few) that on degreed people are considered for.

7 years of college and a single degree to show for it... BSW in Social Welfare. I do have 3/4 of an illustration/graphics design degree, and a year in computer engineering (entry level classes) though... so I'm well rounded, if nothing else.

At least that's what I tell myself.

It might be swayed by location...besides myself (librarian), the only other local commuters I know are transportation planners and engineers.

Overall, though, I think that bike commuters demonstrate that they "think outside the box" (pun intended)...perhaps a bit more educated than the average joe; certainly involved work-wise in something that takes a good measure of intellect (tech industry, education, engineering, etc.).

The single most common profession amongst the bike commuters I come across is College Math Professor, and College Professors in general are quite common. This could be swayed by my location. I live and ride between Georgia Tech and Emory.

I have a high school diploma. Seriously, that's the highest level of education I've managed to complete thus far. I dropped out of college about 7 years ago, and wish I hadn't.
