KHS Urban Series spotted on the street

February 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Yes I have a car and I do drive so relax…but on my way in this morning, I saw a bike commuter. But he wasn’t just a regular commuter. He was pretty special because he was on an Urban Series commuter bike by KHS Bicycles. From what I can tell, he was on the KHS [...]

Reflections Follow Up

February 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment

A few months ago we mentioned that our daughter Breanna won a contest at school for her video project that showed people that she can make a difference by riding her bike to school rather than getting a ride from mom or dad. Her video won for the city of Fullerton and made it up [...]

Around the world on bike….in 195 days!

February 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I did a few long rides this past week and was feeling good, until I saw this article!
Mark Beaumont, from Fife, completed the journey in 195 days - beating the previous record of 276 days.
The 25-year-old crossed the finish line at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris at 1430 GMT after an 18,000-mile journey which [...]

Bikejournal.com: Tracking Rides

February 18th, 2008 · 5 Comments

After posting several of my rides to work on Bikejournal.com I noticed that the miles weren’t showing up on my record nor the bike commuters’ club record.  I think some people may be experiencing the same problem as some of the rider numbers seem to be stagnant(as mine were).
Anyway I was routinely clicking the “Rides” tab [...]

February 18th, 2008 · 16 Comments

This morning I woke up extra early to get things finished on the Yuba Mundo. Two things I have to mention, this baby is all steel and its pretty heavy. Keep reading and you’ll see the dimensions below.
Here’s the final photos:

This thing has some beefy wheels, 48 spokes! That’s more than my tandem! The [...]

Grocery Gitter…the saga continues

February 18th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Russ and Jack were the first to start building up a “Grocery Gitter” bike, them Moe followed suit with his Breezer Gitter. Now one of our loyal readers, Rick Logue(I like your initials) sent us photos of his Gitter bike.
Here’s what Rick had to say about his Gitter:
These pictures are completely staged. The [...]

Yuba Mundo is HERE!

February 17th, 2008 · 4 Comments

The Yuba Mundo arrived at the BikeCommuters.com World Headquarters a few days ago and I took a few snap shots of the frame. The Mundo arrives practically in pieces, but somehow they all managed to fit it all in one box. We received the 6 speed model and its blue, my favorite color!

I’ll be building [...]

Moe’s grocery gitter

February 15th, 2008 · 9 Comments

As Jack predicts for a European style bike to be the next fad, I have quickly jumped on the opportunity to be the one of the originators of the ‘European Style Grocery Gitter’ Trend.
I’ve been looking for a decent Vintage bike to convert, but with the Fixed Gear craze that doesn’t seem to fade, vintage [...]

Is it really over?

February 15th, 2008 · 23 Comments

There’s been a lot of talk about how fixed gear bikes are a big fad and its finally coming to an end.

Bike Snob NYC is always talking about it on his blog and even pokes fun of the bikes that he sees listed in Craigslist and fixedgeargallery.com. To be honest with you, the fixed gear [...]
