Almost a bike now!

I posted this on my personal blog, but I know more than a few readers would be interested. The folks at Bilenky sent me a few more pics today of the assembly of my cargo bike….and it’s looking purty!

Here it looks like they’re pressing in the headset cups with a threaded rod, some washers and bolts. Makes sense since the head tube is way longer than the park headset press.

Here is the nearly complete bike!

It’s coming together really nicely. I think the sign and the paint on the bike work well together. ETA is sometime next week. They ship via Amtrak to keep the costs down. That means I’ll have to make a little multi-modal trek from Long Beach to Union Station in Los Angeles to bring the bike to its new home.

Should be fun!

Yeah, nice looking so far. Now that it’s more together and the sign is actually attached I can say I am fond of the sign which I wasn’t sure of before…Colors work very well.
    Excellent frame color.

    Wow…looking sharp!

I hope you do a full run-down on the bike once it finally arrives. I am particularly interested in the steering mechanism — it looks like a cable-actuated system (I’m guessing that’s what the tab on the fork is for).

mmm makes me want to have an orange creamsicle!

Looks great Russ! Is that longer than your standard bike?

I think the steering is actually some sort of rod linkage…

That makes sense…especially because a cable-actuated system would need tabs on both sides of the fork.
