Some readers know that I’m part of a new bike advocacy group in Long Beach, CA called the Long Beach Cyclists. The Long Beach Cyclists promotes cycling as a fun, valued and sustainable transportation choice in Long Beach through community, advocacy and education.

Our goal is to improve cycling in Long Beach with a ground-up (social, grassroots movement) as well as a top-down (advocacy and policy) approach. Our members are varied from commuters, bike tourists, randonneurs to people that work on bike advocacy on a state and national level. We’re hitting a critical mass of people interested in biking in Long Beach and it’s time for change!
Our first BikeAction is to make Bike to Work Day in Long Beach, the best ever! Bikecommuters.com and KHS are lending a hand, but we need more help. If you’re a reader and live in Long Beach and want to help out in the planning and promotion come join us this week for a planning meeting.
When:
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 - 7:00pm (bring a coat..we’ll be in the patio)
Where:
Polly’s Coffee
4606 E. 2nd Street, Long Beach, CA
Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, visit our site at LBCyclists.org or send us an email.
