Bike to work week 2008

“But isn’t any day bike to work day?” I always get this comment when I post about Bike to Work Week/Day so I decided to get it out of the way.

Bike to work week has special meaning for me, it is because of bike to work week that I decided to give riding to work a chance and like 30% of people who try it the first time, it stuck. I also like to promote bike to work week/day at work, I usually talk to those who ride a bike about bike to work week and hopefully try to convince them to try it at least one day. Who knows, they could be part of that 30%.

Bike to work week is a great idea.

A few years ago I was sick and tired of getting stuck in traffic and high gas prices and thought that this is the way the world works and I just have to suck it up.

Then I found the bicycle and a whole new world was opened up to me.

I’m sure there are people out there who are hopleless (even more so with $4 gas) and then they will be enlightened.

We are already converted, you never know, these “special” events may find some poor soul in need of saving.

Ha…yeah, i get that damn comment a lot….I’ve been handing out flyers for our Bike to Work Day event here in Long Beach and I’ll get some smartypants saying “But I ride my bike every day.”

I’m sure you love your mom everyday as well, but there’s still a Mother’s Day isn’t there?

I had our office head send an all employee email about it and referenced myself for any tips.

One guy in our office actually sent out a response to my email offering free bike repairs, to anyone riding their bike to work, for the entire week(he mentioned he has 20 years wrenching experience). Also he said his son will do free bike washes…Pretty cool!
