This sign was posted at the end of last week on the San Gabriel River Trail. As if I didn’t have enough with dealing with douche bag drivers, bad dogs and lips of death.
Jack used to be Florida’s WNV Surveillance Coordinator and HIGHLY recommended for me to use bug spray. Fortunately I found some mosquito wipes in my camping bin and have become a standard part of my bike commuting kit.

That should read “A Florida WNV Surveillance Coordinator”, not “THE” coordinator. I was assigned to only one of the 67 counties, so there were 66 others in the state.
So, GR, I guess that makes you sort of a mosquito expert. Tell me, then, why mosquitos don’t bite me. I grew up in south Louisiana and now live just north of you, and I don’t ever remember being bitten very much. No bug spray for me. They’ll ignore me and attack the person right next to me. WTF?
I don’t react to poison oak or poison ivy, either. Nor do I have any allergies. 
No, not a mosquito expert…remember that mosquitos are only a disease vector (transmitter). Reducing or eliminating populations of them by monitoring locations of dead birds and sentinel chicken flocks was my bag.
Oh, and calling in the sprayers — that’s how the skeeters got eliminated…we targeted “hot spots” where we’d find diseased birds and chickens and sprayed the hell out of the region.
