For whatever reason, bike manufactures are often omitting the weight of their bicycles in their description. We get more than a few emails asking how much a bike that we are testing weighs, so we use a cheap fish scale that was bought at Wally World:

Well, the West Coast’s bike lab decided to upgrade to a new Park Tool DS-1 Digital Scale:

So, for those who care about weight, we will be posting the weight of any bike we test in their stock form.

Since I had the Digital Scale handy, I weighed my Ibex X-Ray 1×9 commuter bike:

The bike weighs 24.02lbs, the weight includes rear rack, blinkies, speedometer, bell, gel pads and so-so components. Could I shave some weight? Sure, but my X-ray has been very reliable; so if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
