While perusing Kent’s Bike Blog, which is always a wonderful read, I found something that will be of interest to bike commuters everywhere, the Dahon Curl.
It is to be shown at the Taipei Cycle Show in March and details are sketchy at best, though it is rumored to have an 8 speed IGH and use 16-inch wheels. A worthy challenger to the Brompton?
We’ll see.
The Brommie is a tough act to follow, but it would be nice to have another folding bike that can compete with it.

Chip, what do you mean by this? I’ve stood next to you, and “height” is not exactly how I’d describe your stature 
I really really REALLy need a folder in my fleet. But money’s tight — donations are always gladly accepted (hint, hint).
It looks like that thing’s been fed through a compactor at the scrap yard. Which of course is very cool.
I’m hoping it is on par as the Brompton without the Brompton price tag. The speculated 8 speed IGH already sounds better than the 6spd drive trains of the Brompton and the fold looks promising.
One thing I’d like to see from Dahon though (hey guys, are you reading this?) is to make some luggage that really compliment their bikes.
The Bromptons have a whole system of luggage that mounts to the front block that is super useful. Dahon’s have similar front mounting blocks for Klick-Fix enabled luggage, but nothing with the same capacity as the Brommie’s touring bag or Carradice’s offerings.
I think in addition the small fold, the luggage and carrying capabilities will also make the bike super useful.
