Ride a Bike…Make Kids Smile

A couple of Tampa Bay-area bicycle clubs are joining together to bring a little love to sick children this coming weekend:

Newschannel 8 and the Rough Riders are holding their annual John Winter Memorial Teddy Bear Roundup to collect teddy bears for sick children in Bay Area hospitals.

Take a look at this page for some of the details of the teddy bear roundup:

The Seminole Heights Bicycle Club (SHBC) is going to do a holiday version of the club’s “Urban Ride” with a small detour to Channel 8’s News Center at 200 South Parker St. downtown to drop off teddy bears.

I hope all of you can make it. We can do some cross-bike club socializing and, more importantly, help bring a bit of holiday cheer to some sick kids stuck in the hospital.

The bike ride will start and end at the Seminole Heights Garden Center, 5800 N. Central Avenue in Tampa. The ride kicks off at 8:30AM…it’s about a 12 mile roundtrip at a conversational pace. SHBC, MacDill Freewheelers and other groups are joining forces for this one. Feel free to decorate your bike in a holiday theme, and we hope to see you there!

Hope you get a great turnout! Sounds like a great ride. Will you be pulling trailers full of teddy bears?

An Xtracycle packed with ’em…I don’t do trailers.
