About a week ago I talked about wanting to get the KHS Hot Rod. Well it finally arrived last week and today was the first time out on the bike.
I ended up going with a 2010 Hot Rod in a nice retro orange and white. Looks like an Orange Creamscicle! My daughter started riding it around and she pretty much fell in love with it. With that in mind, I have decided to let her have the Hot Rod. As much as I want to ride it myself, it brought so much joy to me when I saw her smiling ear to ear. It really is a fun bike to ride around!

She’ll be poppin’ wheelies in no time!
My dad never bought me a new bike! Just my eldest brother, dammit. BTW, have you considered not posting pics of your daughter? I don’t post any pics online of myself or family. No need to encourage the psychos.
@James…we LIKE psychos!
Seriously, I post the occasional picture of my own child on this very site, but woe to the miscreant who comes looking for us.
That’s a gorgeous machine…so similar to the Sears Spyder my dad bought me for my first bike (except mine was purple with a glittery purple banana seat).
Y’know, looking at your daughter smiling ear-to-ear with her new bike makes me stop and realize why my 21-year-old son has given me his Specialized Hardrock and is starting to save his spare change so he can buy an Electra Rat Fink:
Adults love to be kids again if they can get away with it.
Looks sorta like the 5 speed Schwinn I had it 1975. First thing I did was put on a proper sissy bar that was higher than my head and then a fat slick on the back wheel. My friend helped me extend the front fork with some saw-offs from another bike and then it was really cool!
Where, exactly, is it that green in Feb?!?
We’re in Southern California. We’ve had some good rain the last few weeks, so all this water has been great for the plants.
Awesome! What kid doesn’t love a new bicycle? And what a groovy bike it is.
I remember when I first saw my first bicycle sitting next to the Christmas tree. I would have to win the lottery to get that same feeling again.
Love, love, love that color. Glad you pulled the trigger on the bike.
Now that REALLY reminds me of my ol’ Columbia All it needs are some Wald fenders (bobbed in the back of course)and it would be complete.
Man, that is an amazing blast from the past. Congratulations! If you are going to let your daughter ride it, will you also help her customize it to her tastes? Matching streamers, horns, fenders, etc?
