Interbike 2014: Planet Bike

Our Interbike coverage for the last few years has always featured our most favorite people in the world, Planet Bike. Here are some of their latest offerings.

For all of our readers who love themselves some fenders, I present to you the Cascadia ALX Fenders. These alum fenders are new to Planet Bike for this year. Fit and finish is superb on these puppies.

Nice Rack! That’s what she said. What you see here is the Koko Rack.

So what’s so special about this rack? Um…its a nice rack! Everyone could appreciate a nice looking rack. This one is no exception! But the reality is, it’s a nice rack! 6061 aluminum tubing, fits 26″29″ and 700c wheeled bikes, flat cargo deck for over sized loads, alternate mounting stays to accommodate smaller frames and it’s got a hefty load capacity of 55LBS! See I told you it was a nice rack!

2 new lights have come into the the mix. Both are USB rechargeable. The first model has a capability to produce 650 lumens, that’s pretty bright! It also has 4 settings, 650L, 350L,220L and Superflash. The other model which looks identical to the 650 light has 500 lumens and comes with 3 settings: 500L, 250L and Superflash.

Another new thing for Planet Bike is this CO2/handpump. It accepts threaded 16g CO2 cartridges to quickly inflate your flat tire. If you need a bit more air, the hand pump comes in handy to finish the job.

Probably my favorite item they had on display would be these classy looking crochet riding gloves called the Taurus.

Interbike 2014: Virtue Cycle Solutions

This was probably the coolest thing I saw at the show, the Pedalist. It’s a mix between an car-ish/e-bike/trike.

Here’s Art Aguilar sitting in the Pedalist to show you what it would be like.

We spoke to the folks at Virtue about their product and they said the Pedalist would fit inside a traditional bike lane in San Diego, Ca. The complete kit, if I recall correctly includes the e-trike, and the outer shell was less than $3k.

Interbike 2014: Papillionaire

We met the super cool folks of Papillionaire. They were showcasing their fancy city bikes.

Papillionaire

I’m a HUGE fan of mixte bikes. This one is reallllly PRETTY! Comes with fenders, rear rack and even leather wrapped grips. Looks like something our readers would consider a real “commuter bike.”

Interbike 2014: ODI Grips

We noticed that bright florescent colors were quite popular this year. Even the grips that ODI offered were pretty bright!

But if that’s too bright for you, they have some “commuter” friendly grips. Forgot the model name but these offered more comfort than their standard grips.

They also have some grips that resemble the soles of Vans shoes.
